The brief asked for calm without preciousness: rooms generous enough for family life, refined enough for a prewar frame. Original moldings and fireplaces were kept and repaired; a Calacatta-marble portal and full-height white-oak millwork anchor the kitchen; furniture is low, deep, and deliberately few. What remains is light, and the park beyond it.
